Today we set up a prototype to user test our idea for our third aspect of our promotional installations campaign. We drew an apple outline on the mirrors in both female bathrooms on Levels D and E of Block 12 (in whiteboard marker) and stuck a note next to it that prompted girls to leave a message sharing something they loved about themselves or something they wish other girls would appreciate about themselves. We also provided a pen and some post-it notes.
We wanted to prototype this idea to see whether it is actually something people would be willing to do. We chose to prototype in the girl's bathroom because we feel like it is hard to get people to interact with prototypes in the work spaces of Block 12 as often people are not sure whether it is something they are allowed to do/if it is really a prototype or actually someone's work/because the walls are filled with work all the time people are less likely to take notice of new things. By using the mirror in the bathroom we are hoping more people will see the prototype, have time to read it as they wash their hands, and also feel more comfortable sharing something that they may feel shy or insecure about because the bathroom is a more private space.
We wrote a couple of notes of our own to get the ball rolling and inspire other girls to share.
